Join a dynamic, multi-state cannabis company as an Accounting Associate at our Corporate Offices in Las Vegas, NV.
This role involves providing crucial support to the finance and accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing data, facilitating Accounts Payable transactions, and ensuring that you are following accurate record-keeping practices.
Responsibilities:
Financial Data Entry and Management:
Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
Maintain accurate ledgers and journals for various accounts.
Assist in reconciling discrepancies in financial records.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Process vendor payments and recording the transaction in QuickBooks Desktop, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Upload invoices for customers and manage receivables efficiently.
Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on collections.
Preparation of cash deposits.
Month-End Closing Procedures:
Bank, vendor, and customer reconciliations.
Review of Income Statements and Balance Sheets.
Monthly General Journal Entries Financial Analysis:
Assist in preparing financial statements, commission tracking, reports, and forecasts.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Assist in Audit and Tax Preparation:
Support audit procedures by preparing necessary documentation and schedules.
Assist in tax filings and compliance, collaborating with external tax advisors.
Process Improvement:
Identify areas for process enhancement and contribute to the implementation of improved accounting procedures.
Recommend and implement efficiency improvements in financial systems and workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with different departments to gather financial data and ensure accuracy in reporting.
Collaborate with the finance team to support ad-hoc projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
Further education or professional development in Finance, or related fields through relevant courses, certifications, or specialized training programs.
1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles; experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
1 year of experience in Accounts Payable transactions Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in computer skills is essential, along with a quick aptitude for learning new software.
