Job Description Nevada State University (NSU) invites applications for the position of LOA Hourly - Speech-to-Text Transcriptionist - Disability Resource Center (DRC).
The Speech-to-Text Transcriptionist requires the ability to effectively provide real-time speech-to-text using one of the currently accepted transcription methods (e.
g.
- CART, typewell, etc.
) for hard of hearing students, staff and community members attending institution functions in a broad- spectrum assignments.
These can be, but are not limited to academic courses, student engagement activities and community events sponsored by NSU.

Responsibilities:
The Speech-to-Text Transcriptionist requires the ability to effectively provide real-time speech-to-text using one of the currently accepted transcription methods (e.
g.
- CART, typewell, etc.
) for hard of hearing students, staff and community members attending institution functions in a broad- spectrum assignments.
These can be, but are not limited to academic courses, student engagement activities and community events sponsored by NSU.
Individual(s) hired into this position may report to the Disability Resources Center or Human Resources, depending on assigned weekly duties.
Must be able to caption effectively the spoken message.
Proficiently use, maintain, transcribing software, and computer systems and equipment.
Develop, maintain, and proficiently use a thorough dictionary that enables accurate and fluid translation.
Effectively listen for continuity, sense, and detail while translating.
Proficiently write in real-time or conceptually check as driven by software and or request in a conflict free manner using punctuation and sustaining accuracy in fast-paced situations.
Use advanced editing skills work effectively with consumers and maintain confidentiality.
Comprehensive knowledge of the English language, including:
grammatical structures, syntax, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.
Requires working knowledge of the language and vocabulary used in the assigned translating situations.
Industry recognized code of ethics and general knowledge of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Culture.
Formal training and licensure in approved speech to text software are required.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High school diploma.
Type well Transcribers:
current license in your name.
CART providers:
current certification and licensure with the State of Nevada.
Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSU does not sponsor employment-related visas.

Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience interpreting in Post-Secondary Education.
College degree or course work.
Work Hours:
This position will work up to 19 hours per week.
Hourly Rate/Monthly Salary:
$55-60 per hour.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
