JOB TITLE:
Store Sales Leader (SSL) REPORTS TO:
Senior District Sales Leader, District Sales Leader or Area Sales Leader OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The Store Sales Leader is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the Store.
The SSL specifically plans and directs, through the Store Management Team, all sales, operations, visual merchandising, and human resource functions of the Store.
The SSL ensures that a strong selling and customer focus is maintained in the store at all times and that all of our customers have a great and compelling shopping experience.
The SSL is also accountable for making critical decisions that contribute to growing the customer base and driving profitable sales growth.
The SSL must demonstrate a thorough understanding of retail operations and be capable of speaking to the Store's business activities, trends, key business metrics, customer profiles, market and competitive forces, visual and merchandise strategies and growth opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Builds Talent Serves as a role model for other associatesNetworks, recruits, interviews, and hires for store positions at all levelsBuilds a high performing and engaged sales team that is accountable for store resultsMaintains optimal store staffing levels and schedules talent to maximize productivityEnsures talent is properly onboarded and adequately trainedSupports the training and ongoing development of the Store Management TeamEnsures associate performance appraisals and compensation reviews are handled appropriatelyIdentifies, documents and resolves performance issues and policy violations according to company policy, in partnership with the District Sales Leader/Area Sales Leader and applicable Brand Headquarters' partnersEnsures compliance with all Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policiesEnsures efficient planning, coordination, follow-though and completion of tasks, which contribute to the achievement of store and company goalsAdjusts plans/directions/schedules when necessary and acts with a sense of urgency to meet changing priorities, store needs and the demands of the businessEnsures proper floor coverage and floor management to maximize store volumeCreates a store culture that is committed to exceeding customer's expectations and delivering the highest level of customer service at all timesEnsures the execution of the company's customer service policiesEnsures action is taken to achieve store sales goals and corrects negative sales trendsEnsures the maintenance of merchandise standards to maximize salesEnsures that the sales floor is full, replenished and sizedEnsures the consistent achievement of key store metricsCommunicates customer feedback, best sellers, and recommendations to ASL/DSL/Sr.
DSLUses company reports to analyze business resultsEnsures the store maintains excellent visual presentation at all times, by presenting a fashion statement throughout the storeEnsures the achievement of company merchandise standardsEnsures the execution of the visual presentation direction and updatesEnsures compliance to the Company's Brand Ambassador Dress StandardsEnsures the maintenance of a clean, neat, and organized storeEffectively promotes all Brand initiatives (Instant Credit, Reward, Email Capture Programs) and achieves all personal goals Sales Generation Builds the Brand Operational Excellence Establishes and ensures compliance with the company Brand Operating Standards and the Execution Commitment Validation (ECV) processEnsures compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including the New York & Company Code of Business ConductLeads the execution of inventories and maintains accurate inventory paperwork/recordsEnsures the appropriate execution of merchandise handling proceduresControls payroll and all other controllable expensesEnsures the achievement of store shrink goals and compliance with Loss Prevention guidelinesCommunicates inventory problems, markdowns, and trends to DSL/ASLEnsures the adequate level of store suppliesIdentifies and resolves store maintenance issuesSupervises the maintenance of store safety standardsCompletes additional duties and projects as assigned REQUIREMENTS:
Three to four years retail experience, with at least two years of demonstrated success in a management positionSolid business acumen and analytical skills, can confidently analyze and speak to the Store's businessStrong selling and customer service orientation; ensures the customer is always a top priorityExcellent merchant skills, knowledgeable of our merchandise and confident making visual and merchandise decisions that cater to the Stores market and customer base.
Great Brand Ambassador, strong personal presence, passionate, fashionable, confident, poised, articulate, credible, professional and acts with integrityDemonstrated track record of success in recruiting, training, sales generation, operations, and merchandisingExcellent talent selection and development skillsExcellent communication, delegation, follow-up, time-management, and analytical skillsProven ability to multi-task and direct activities at all levelsMinimal travel requiredPhysical ability to be on sales floor for extended periods of time, and to move and handle merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which may entail lifting, and perform all functions as set forth aboveAbility to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed based on the needs of the business.

Associate's degree or equivalent in work experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
