The City of Henderson, America's premier community, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Corrections Officer. This recruitment will establish an eligibility list which may be used to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one year.
Under general supervision, performs security work overseeing and directing the activities of inmates within the Detention Center and during transport to other facilities, and performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Must possess an appropriate Nevada Driver's License at the time of appointment and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be 21 years of age at the time of the online examination for Corrections Officer.
Visual acuity must be correctable to 20/40 in one eye and 20/30 in both eyes.
Hearing must be 30 decibels or less for each ear.
No convictions of any felony crime or a crime for which you would be required to register per Nevada law.
No convictions of any crime involving domestic violence.
All employees in this class must successfully complete the Academy Basic Course, Category I, within the time frame as required by the Henderson Police Department.
Note: Incumbents in this classification are required to successfully complete an annual physical examination and maintain proficiency with departmental firearms.
Appointment is subject to successful completion of post offer pre-employment background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological examination, and medical/physical examination, drug and alcohol test. SELECTION PROCESS:
Online Exam-Weighted 40%
It is the Candidate's responsibility to schedule and take the online exam with the National Testing Network (NTN) by Saturday, February 11, 2017(No exceptions will be made.) Tests can be taken at ANY of the sites offered by NTN. The City will NOT be contacting candidates to inform them to take the exam.
The Henderson Police Department offers full testing services for the position of corrections officer through National Testing Network, Inc. To schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Corrections and select the Henderson, Nevada Police Department. Examinations must be completed by Saturday, February 11, 2017.

Schedule your own convenient test time. Tests are offered multiple times a week, including Saturdays, at multiple locations in many states.
Take high quality job simulation tests in a standardized, fair testing environment.
Approximately 2 weeks after the closing date of the job posting, all Henderson Police Department test scores are automatically forwarded to the Henderson Police Department. HPD will contact candidates after scores are received and processed to inform them of their status in the process.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the Henderson Police Department's responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the Department where the final decisions are made.
The top 100 scoring candidates will be invited to participate in the Physical Fitness Exam. Candidates selected to move forward will be notified via email of the date/time of their physical fitness examination.
Physical Fitness Exam-Pass/Fail
The physical fitness exams are tentatively scheduled for Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy. Henderson, NV.
The Physical Fitness Examination consists of the following events: Vertical Jump, Agility Run, Push-ups, Sit-ups, 300 Meter Run, and a 1-1/2 Mile Run/Walk, all designed to measure the candidate's level of fitness. Candidates must pass each event to move forward to the oral board interviews.

Oral Review Board-Weighted 60%
The oral review board interviews are tentatively scheduled for Monday, March 27, Tuesday, March 28, and Wednesday, March 30, 2017, in Henderson, Nevada.
Candidates must receive a score of 70 or above on the oral board interview to progress in the hiring process.
The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards. Candidates may reapply when there is a posting to establish an eligibility list. Some candidates may be disqualified indefinitely due to the results of their background investigation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
