The City of Henderson is seeking part-time Site Leads for our Therapeutic Recreation programs. Site Leads oversee the day-to-day on-site therapeutic recreation program functions offered at three Henderson recreation facilities. On The Go is a community-based recreation program for adults of varying abilities ages 22 & up (or have graduated from high school) wishing to meet new friends through recreation and independent living activities. Rec & Roll is an after-school recreation program for young adults with disabilities in grades 9-12 (or up to 21 years of age). It provides opportunities for young adults to explore their recreational interests in a structured environment as well as develop the skills needed for independence.

Therapeutic Recreation is an excellent way to gain new experiences and to build expertise for individuals working towards careers in teaching, special education, pediatrics, psychology or therapeutic occupations. Programs are delivered in the afternoon and follow the Clark County School District's 9-month calendar.
This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time/seasonal Site Leader - Therapeutic Recreation vacancies on an as needed basis. The City will refer to the pool of part-time applications on file, as needed, to fill vacancies. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements of the position will remain in the pool for 12 months. Programs are available at Henderson Multigenerational Center, Valley View Recreation Center and Whitney Ranch Recreation Center. Work locations and assignments are subject to change based on program needs.
Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application or promotion.
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience working in programs with disabled and/or special needs clients.
Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483, and the ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger vehicle.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR certifications within six (6) months of hire.
Incumbents may be required to obtain specific technical certifications.
Desirable: Supervisory experience in a recreational program setting.
Desirable: Experience working in programs for individuals with disabilities and special needs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
