Contract Lead - Digitization

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will provide contract management support to project teams in furtherance of Barrick's digital reinvention efforts, and will partner with mining operations to deliver practical contracting solutions to the business. The selected individual will be well-versed in advising stakeholders on complex business and quasi-legal matters. This individual will interface with individuals at all levels and across multiple Barrick entities and functions in support of domestic and international business initiatives.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements and contracts, including information technology agreements, master service agreements, consulting agreements, and other unique contract arrangements
Leveraging contracting expertise to create practical solutions in response to operational priorities
Advising management of contract terms and risks; compiling and analyzing acquisition data; and managing the successful completion of program requirements
Reviewing existing business agreements and policies and providing guidance on contract rights, remedies, and obligations
Leading negotiations that are business critical, complex and/or sensitive in nature
Providing guidance on contract matters to project managers or other operational staff, including the provision of training to new project managers and other employees in contracting practices
Overseeing the evaluation of contract performance and compliance to contractual obligations
Developing and implementing contract lifecycle management strategy in compliance with company policy, as well as contributing to or influencing new company policies
Providing overall leadership and strategic direction to the supply chain contracting function, including organizing and managing global procurement forms and other tools
Knowing and facilitating compliance with the current Mining Safety and Health regulations and Contractor Control procedures of Barrick
Demonstrating social awareness, commitment and compliance with Barrick's Social Responsibility Policy, always showing a socially responsible behavior with the Community and with the Company
Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites and requires collaboration and interaction across the regional supply chain organizations as well as across other service and operational areas of Barrick.
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Juris Doctorate or Paralegal certification preferred
Six (6) to eight (8) years of directly related supply chain experience or equivalent combination of training and experience required
Mining experience preferred
Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio required
Knowledge of Oracle, Ellipse or equivalent enterprise level software packages preferred
Excellent skills associated with problem solving and analytics required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Leverages contracting best practices, templates and contract management technology to be effective at the contracting process and escalate issues and risks to appropriate leadership.
Organizational Awareness: Appreciates how and when others should be kept informed. General awareness of the impact of decisions made at other levels in the organization. Knows a means to solicit support for new ideas or projects.
Negotiations: Develops and implements supplier negotiation strategies and plans based on facts. Negotiates agreements to achieve results that support sourcing strategies and company's business objectives.
Teamwork: Facilitates goal-setting and problem ?solving. Identifies and resolves conflicts and removes barriers to effective teamwork. Builds strong reciprocal relationships with others inside and outside the team and department. Analyzes team process inefficiencies and recommends improvements.
Problem Solving: Recognizes and acts preventatively on early warning signs of problems. Sees implications of decisions. Seeks to understand nuances and root causes. Takes action quickly but avoids rash conclusions. Finds resourceful ways to keep things on track. Redefines problems from a broader perspective considering strategic initiatives and business impact.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
